Start here!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our website! Our names are Lacy and Ana and we collectively make up Speech in the Sand. We are so excited to connect with you! Let us tell you a little bit about ourselves

We are best friends!

We met in grad school at the University of South Florida (GO BULLS)! During one of those “get to know you” activities, we were paired together and the rest is history. We found out that we both had moms who were teachers, we both had dachshunds, and we both had a dog named Murray. The coincidences continued from there.

We are moms!

Lacy has a 6-year-old step son, Dax, and a 1-year-old son, Ben. Ana has a 1-year-old daughter, Camille. We did NOT plan to have our babies at the same time (haha!) Ana called me to tell me she was 8 weeks pregnant on THE DAY I took the pregnancy test (see? the coincidences are crazy). We are super busy with these little ones but they are the best!

We are SLPs!

We are both Speech & Language Pathologists in the school setting. We have been practicing since 2013 and we love our job!

Lacy:

I married my high school sweetheart but… It wasn’t that simple. We broke up, dated other people, then came back together 5 years later. Now we have our little family of four and couldn’t be happier. We love to be outside, go to the beach, and visit Disney on the weekends!

I was born and raised in a small beach town in Florida and came back to grow more roots here after college. I love my little town. It doesn’t hurt that I can stick my feet in the sand after a long day at work either 🙂

Ana:

I also call Florida my home, and am from Pensacola on the Gulf Coast! I completed my undergraduate coursework at the University of Florida in Gainesville and went to SLP graduate school in Tampa at the University of South Florida!

Currently, I am in Oklahoma City with my husband Caleb, who is stationed here as a Naval Aviator. We have a one year old daughter named Camille who is charming and always keeps us laughing. We love to go the the park and to any kind of festival (when it isn’t too windy) and we hope to get back to Florida soon so that we spend more time near the beach!

Why Speech in the Sand?

The simple answer is, this is who we are. Our home is Florida, our happy place is the beach, our passion is Speech Pathology. We don’t take where we live for granted; people vacation where we live! Whenever we go for a walk over the bridge or on the beach, we are reminded of how lucky we are to live in this area and we are so proud to call this state our home.

Our Goal:

We want to create fun, engaging, speech and language materials that make your work life easier. We would love to use this website as a platform to connect with you and to share our ideas, tips, stories, and every day happenings with other SLPs and educators.
